Laura Mannino is an actor, comedian and writer from New York who now lives in LA. She received a BFA with Honors in Drama from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, where she trained at the Atlantic Acting School. Since 2004 Laura performed stand-up all over NYC. She co-produced a long running stand-up and variety show, Mintyfresh. Mintyfresh has been featured in Time Out New York, The Village Voice, New York Press, and Gawker. Laura has appeared in The New York Underground Comedy Festival (2004-2006) and was a first- place semi-finalist in the Ladies of Laughter Contest(2004).

Did you hear the one about the lesbian who wanted to take her girlfriend to the school prom, so the school canceled the prom for everyone? I kid you not…

How I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at that school board meeting: “Shit, we have lesbians in the school. Let’s cancel the prom for everyone and blame the lesbians for ruining everyone else’s fun.”

I keep thinking this whole thing is fake, a prank, some kind of media publicity stunt for tuxedos, or a promo for a feature film called “Lesbian Nightmare on Prom Night!” starring Samantha Ronson as Constance’s lawyer and Fred Phelps as the school principal. I keep thinking that suddenly we’ll discover that Constance isn’t really a lesbian and that she’s Balloon Boy’s long lost sister.
